Module content | This African Language methodology module focuses on mother tongue instruction which covers the teaching of isiZulu. The core aim in teaching Home Languages is to develop skills which will enable learners to communicate as effectively as possible, on a more academic level in their respective mother-tongue. Although the module will be presented in English, lesson plans and lesson presentations will be done in the relevant African Language. The module offers a thorough overview of the learning content with specific focus on practical application as prescribed by the National Curriculum Statement Documents. Emphasis is placed on achieving the prescribed learning outcomes. In this module students are equipped with the necessary knowledge, skills, values and attitudes needed in practice and to develop and enhance the language ability and language use of all learners. The module focuses on developing learning experiences for the language skills, namely listening, speaking, reading and writing, as well as language structure and grammar.
